! This post hasn't been updated in over a year. A lot can change in a year including my opinion and the amount of naughty words I use. There's a good chance that there's something in what's written below that someone will find objectionable. That's fine, if I tried to please everybody all of the time then I'd be a Lib Dem (remember them?) and I'm certainly not one of those. The point is, I'm not the kind of person to try and alter history in case I said something in the past that someone can use against me in the future but just remember that the person I was then isn't the person I am now nor the person I'll be in a year's time.
A BA check-in employee has been suspended for refusing to remove the small crucifix that she wore (the size of a 5p piece).
However, BA do allow a head scarf, turban and bangles to be worn conspicuously but a crucifix must be covered up.
This is all absurd. Not because wearing a crucifix is the right of any ‘Christian’, but because only 10 years or so ago, wearing one was inconsequential in this country. No one would have batted an eyelid, so why should they now?
BA need stringing up by the balls.
Article 18 of the United Nations charter on Human Rights:
Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.
Part 13 of the Human Rights Act
13. – (1) If a court’s determination of any question arising under this Act might affect the exercise by a religious organisation (itself or its members collectively) of the Convention right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion, it must have particular regard to the importance of that right.
(2) In this section “court” includes a tribunal.
There are probably more but I would say that BA are well and truly buggered
Yep, that’s one argument D_H. The other one is that it’s discrimination because they allow other faiths to show their trinkets and religious clothes.
She wasn’t suspended; she took voluntary unpaid leave.
