No Mandate Brown’s choice of Sir (soon to be Lord) Alan Sugar for his cabinet of all the talentless is interesting when you read the Telegraph’s brief bio on him …
While Sir Alan spends the majority of his time on The Apprentice, he has not completely severed his ties with the business community, still chairing a computer company, Viglen, in which he is a major shareholder.
Just a month ago, the company won a £30 million contract to supply Government departments, such as the NHS, with 70,000 computers.
Interesting. But there’s no conflict of interests of course, Sir Alan Sugar says so and you can trust him because he’s an honest and 
successful businessman.

In 2007 he sold the company for £125 million to broadcaster BSkyB, a 10th of its value during the boom years.
So, he took a £1.2bn company, turned it into a £125m company and now he’s going to make policy on business and enterprise? I suppose it’s no worse than No Mandate Brown taking a booming economy and turning it into a national debt roughly equal to 150% of GDP.

Regarding the title, I must agree with Maria. I have a dog named Sugar (he is an 85 pound german shephard) who would eat the stuff in the title, so I was naturaly amused.
Regarding the topic of the actual Lord Sugar, I can sypathize. Our great economic czars over in the USA have about accomplished the same thing with General Motors.
May my friends across the pond soon rid themselves of Gorden Brown and his bad joke of government quickly.

Who is this Charlie Marks, he seems to know little of his facts re the now Lord Sugar, Alan Sugar may be a multimillionaire,but it is all of his own making, is up front about his humle beigning and this never shy to admit his family came from the East End of London, his grand parents more than likly arrived as immegrant with not much more the clothes they stood up in. It was not in our laws at that time for new arrivals to begiven govenment assistance, their own community were expected help them should they in need. So much for the distant past. Lord Sugar is never shy to say he started is working life with a very small amount of borrowed, tells us he is Jewish and is in favour of the Labour Party, we even know what football team he prefers. His is a rags to riches story all on his own efforts, and as he had been asked and be can be of any assistant to our present government. This is no irony,this self made muiltimillionaire has provided industry and employment to Britain and its people, and now an unhappy govement has called upon his talants to help pull us out of our problems. He has came a long way and worked hard from his days in Jewish Lads Brigrade to a Lord of the Relem. Given a lot to society it is neither ironic or capitalist, he is free to support that which he wishes, free announce the same, and will deserving of his enoblement.

It is ironic that a multi-millionaire capitalist is brought into the Labour government on the basis he’ll work to help small businesses. Labour are a party that used to be left-wing but are now showing their right-wing capitalist credentials by bringing in a successful business man to help out. I think he was making a comment about labour, not sugar

He says he’s not part of the government. In that case he doesn’t need a fake peerage.
Sugar sowed the seeds of his fortune when Labour was last screwing over the economy, so he his probably one of the best guides to steering through the cowpats of a controlled economy
I didn’t say a word about the man – though he seems like a personable fellow.
However, I’d like to know how many people Lord Sugar employs in this country. It wouldn’t be the case that he’s outsourced production to low-wage economies, would it?
