! This post hasn't been updated in over a year. A lot can change in a year including my opinion and the amount of naughty words I use. There's a good chance that there's something in what's written below that someone will find objectionable. That's fine, if I tried to please everybody all of the time then I'd be a Lib Dem (remember them?) and I'm certainly not one of those. The point is, I'm not the kind of person to try and alter history in case I said something in the past that someone can use against me in the future but just remember that the person I was then isn't the person I am now nor the person I'll be in a year's time.

That’s from the BBC’s list but there is another anniversary which the BBC have missed and which, I suspect, will go un-noticed up and down the country. Today is the 300th anniversary of the Act of Union between England and Scotland. Will there be a 301st birthday or will the union be dissolved in the next 12 months? The SNP are predicted to win the Scottish elections on Thursday and that means a referendum on independence. A few weeks back the SNP said that it wouldn’t hold a referendum for a few years but once they’ve got a taste of power it won’t be long.

Alex Salmond fell into the old Labour trap of referring to England as the UK ,by stating that bonnie Scotland could rejoin the UK, it is only called the UK because of bonnie Scotlands presence in it !!
If bonnie Scotland left it would revert to being merry England again and a good thing too !
I don’t think Scotland would leave the union by way of the Act of Union being repealed so the UK would still exist, it would just consist of England, Wales, Northern Ireland and dependencies.
Surely having pointed out this anniversary yourself you can see just what a TINY part of Scottish history this union has been. Surely you can understand the desire to go back to how things were or the vast majority of our history as a country before this union was thrust upon us and the British government set about slowly destroying us. When a large country takes over a smaller country they always set about making the smaller country financially dependent on them…Scotland can’t be blamed for wanting out, only England can be blamed for making the Scots want out.
The elected Scottish government chose to join England in a union and since then the union has been skewed in favour of Scotland. England didn’t take over Scotland, it was supposed to be a union of equals but of course it has ended up with Scotland running the show under Scottish Liebour.
I don’t blame Scotland for wanting out, Scotland has never like England and it must be a bitter pill to swallow having once been a historic, independent nation and then having to rely on their hated neighbours to get them out of trouble.
