! This post hasn't been updated in over a year. A lot can change in a year including my opinion and the amount of naughty words I use. There's a good chance that there's something in what's written below that someone will find objectionable. That's fine, if I tried to please everybody all of the time then I'd be a Lib Dem (remember them?) and I'm certainly not one of those. The point is, I'm not the kind of person to try and alter history in case I said something in the past that someone can use against me in the future but just remember that the person I was then isn't the person I am now nor the person I'll be in a year's time.
The Met Police have been found guilty of breaching health and safety laws by shooting Jean Charles De Menezes.
Rather than charging individual officers with murder, the Met as a “company” was prosecuted.
I don’t think that we really want to be setting a precedent of charging police officers for following orders – that way lies madness. However, Sir Iain Bliar is the head of the Met and he was responsible for his officers when they shot an innocent Brazillian man on the tube and then shot him several times whilst he was dead on the ground and then lied about what happened.
Iain Bliar is a turd of the highest order but should he resign?

Why are people so surprised that someone called Blair just won’t resign?!
Whilst the shooting was a terrible tragedy for all concerned I find it very distasteful that after killing an innocent man in error, senior police officers then proceeded to blacken the poor man’s name in order to protect themselves. If they had admitted to gross errors in their procedure and taken responsibility then perhaps the public would have been willing to accept it for what it was – the culmination of a series of tragic mistakes made during extraordinary times. And lets not forget the surveillance officer who followed Jean Charles and the police who boarded the train, they were led to believe they were pursuing bomber and yet were willing to put themselves in danger.
I believe that Sir Iain Blair should resign for a number of reasons. Firstly, although this was the culmination of a series of mistakes on an extraordinary day leading to a tragic outcome, I believe that on any other extraordinary day with a plethora of conflicting requirements an equally tragic outcome was likely. The objectives were not clearly defined; there was no clear chain of command; ‘plenty of commanders but no control’ was how the chaotic situation in the Command and Control room was described. So little was Blair in touch with operational matters under his command that the lowliest cleaner knew that an innocent man had been shot dead before he did. This is a state of affairs for which he must bear full responsibility. He should resign. Now. Kevin F.
May I advocate the Devil? When there are so many immigrants in UK doing so many bad things it’s no wonder that anger sometimes would go out and hand would reach out for the gun. The problem is immigration itself. Blair should not regin. Now call me racist, I don’t care.
Max, if the police reach for their guns in anger, we’re in big trouble.
